One of the main problems in the oil industrial field is the leakage intransporting pipelines due to its effect on human society , environment, and money loss.Therefore, the bottleneck for most researches in this subject is to minimize false alarm rate(FAR) for the adopted leak detection method. Although some recent methods succeed inclassifying the existence or absence of the leak as a binary classification problem. But thispaper proposed a novel leak detection technique which predicts the leak location andestimates its size within certain pre-defined ranges. In order to simulate the environmentalconditions for real-time operating oil pipeline, accurate simulator known as OLGAprogram creates the oil physical parameters. Various methods for features extraction areconsidered such as statistical and wavelet techniques which are implemented to get thefeatures from the fluid simulated waveforms. These features are organized and fed to anANN classifier trained by PSO algorithm to determine the leak class out of 10 suggestedclasses. The proposed leak detection technique is used to simulate 18 kilometers belongingto Iraqi crude oil pipelines company operated in Baghdad. The achieved results of the truepositive rate (TPR) for the proposed applied method for the leak detection andclassification of different leak classes in terms of their positions and magnitudes wereabout 97%.

Electromyography signals (EMG) are an important source to infermotion intention. It has been broadly applied in human-machine interfacing tocontrol the neurorehabilitation devices such as prosthesis and rehabilitationrobot. HD-sEMG is a muscle's activity recorded at the delimited area of theskin using 2D array electrode. This strategy permits the analysis of sEMGsignals in both temporal and spatial domain. Recent studies display that thespatial distribution of HD-EMG maps improves the recognition of tasks. Thiswork investigates the use of HD-EMG recording to control upper limbprosthesis. The classification of eight hand gestures of able-bodied subjects wasdeveloped. Three feature sets were presented in this work. HOG features, timedomain features(TD) and the combination of HOG and average intensityfeatures (AIH). Combination of features possibly improved the performance ofthe classifier. Results show that the combined of intensity features and HOGfeatures achieved higher performance of classifier than other features(Acc=99.37%, P=98.375%, S=97.5%)

In this paper vector control with variable frequency drive used toapply speed control of a three-phase AC Asynchronous and induction machines.The flux and torque references used to obtain the current components.Proportional-Integral controllers are used to keeping the measured currentcomponents at their reference values. The stator voltage references are theoutput of the PI current controllers. High-performance with the smoothoperation is obtained using the proposed method. The differences can be seen inbehavior dynamic state. When the motor is rotating at full speed with a fullload,it reaches good current waveforms very easily due to the independent PIcontrol of torque and magnitude of flux. In high and sudden variations of thereference input, the direct command is more efficient and less demanding forthe equipment. The expressions of the fundamental variables (speed, torque,flux) and equivalent phase circuit of the machine will be reviewed.

The DC-DC power converters have extreme importance incontemporary applications. Moreover, the DC-DC power converters are theideal candidates in numerous applications such as electric and hybrid vehicles,fuel cells and others. They have been extensively researched upon over threedecades. The control of these converters has been often implemented usingPWM techniques and based on discrete components and integrated circuits. Inthis paper we propose a systematic approach for the control of step down DCDCconverters with variable input voltage based on discontinuous controlaction. We demonstrate that the proposed algorithm achieves robustness tovariations of the converter load and the input voltage without additionalsensors.

This paper presents a design of a complete dual-loop controller for 4-switchbrushless dc motor. In low power, low-cost applications, the 4-switch inverter topology isa felicitous alternative of the ordinary 6-switch inverter. The controller of the 4-switchBLDC motor has to be uncomplicated and can be implemented without the use ofexpensive hardware to avoid increasing the overall cost of the drive system. Furthermore,the control must be able to deal with the known problems of the 4-switch drive which arespeed limitation and high ripple torque. The proposed controller comprises sliding modespeed control and direct current hysteresis control. To investigate the performance of theproposed design, the system is modeled by using Matlab/Simulink, the results areobtained for different working conditions. The propitious results certify the applicabilityof the proposed controller in low-cost 4-switch BLDC motor drive systems.

A Sliding Mode Control (SMC) with integral surface is employed to controlthe speed of Three-Phase Induction Motor in this paper. The strategy used is a modifiedfield oriented control to control the IM drive system. The SMC is used to calculate thefrequency required for generating three phase voltage of Space vVector Pulse WidthModulation (SVPWM) invertor. When the SMC is used with current controller, thequadratic component of stator current is estimated by the controller. Instead of usingcurrent controller, this paper proposed estimating the frequency of stator voltagewhereas the slip speed is representing a function of the quadratic current. The simulationresults of using the SMC showed that a good dynamic response can be obtained underload disturbances as compared with the classical PI controller; the completemathematical model of the system is described and simulated in MATLAB/SIMULINK.

The network congestion is an essential problem that leads to packetslosing and performance degradation. Thus, preventing congestion in thenetwork is very important to enhance and improve the quality of service. Activequeue management (AQM) is the solution to control congestion in TCP networkmiddle nodes to improve theire performance. We design a linear quadratic(LQ)-servo controller as an AQM applied to TCP network to control congestionand attempt to achieve high quality of service under dynamic networkenvironments. The LQ-servo controller is proposed to provide queue lengthstabilization with a small delay and faster settling time. The designed controllerparameters are tuned by using the particle swarm optimization (PSO) method.The PSO algorithm was fundamentally applied to find the optimal controllerparameters Q and R, such that a good output response could be obtained. The PIcontroller is examined for comparison reasons. The MATLAB simulation resultshows that the controller is more effective than the PI in reaching zero steadystateerror with better congestion avoidance under the dynamic networkenvironment. Moreover, the proposed controller achieves a smaller delay andfaster settling time.

Internet of Things (IoT) enables things to have connectivity throughthe internet. The number of things is growing fast and has to be uniquelyidentified through the Internet to communicate with other things. In WirelessSensor Networks (WSNs) each node can be considered as a thing. WSN noderesources are very limited due to the need to communicate using low power andusually through unreliable links. Such limitations need an energy efficientrouting protocol. WSN is considered as a type of Low power and LossyNetwork (LLN). The routing protocol for low power and lossy network (RPL)is being adopted for LLN and has been standardized to enable connectivity ofWSN over IoT. RPL constricted a topology similar to tree topology. Nodes inRPL optimized its path using an objective function (OF). OF depends ondifferent node/link metrics in the optimization process. In this paper, an EnergyThreshold RPL (ETRPL) protocol is proposed. ETRPL depends on a newobjective function to enhance energy consumption of RPL protocol by takinginto account the remaining energy of the preferred parent node. ETRPL isimplemented using Cooja simulator. The results show that ETRPL provides anincrease in the remaining energy of at least 87.4% for a small area with highnumber of nodes. ETRPL also performed better with regards to Time Delay,Packet Reception Ratio, and the number of dead nodes in a small area. For alarge area, the performance is not encouraging. Thus the proposed ETRPLprotocol is useful for IoT networks with relatively small areas.

This study focuses on the design of an autonomous wheelchair basedsmart driving features for disabled persons. The movement directions andposition tracking of the wheelchair are controlled and localized by pre-definedvoice commands and global positioning system (GPS), respectively. Arduinomicrocontroller based on speaker dependent voice recognition module andtracking system based on quad-board SIM808 has been used to help thewheelchair navigation. The experimental tests of the proposed system have beendone and given satisfactory results in controlling the wheelchair and making acall on demand. Hence the proposed system is a simple, easy to use and lowcosthardware for designing.
